Original Victorian laundry basket by Arthur Craven, with its original ivorine name plate. Was used to transfer laundry from business to property.
The basket sits on recessed iron castor wheels that move and work. There are two functional rope handles on either side of the basket.
This piece is even more amazing because it has a locking bar latch mechanism that works. A skeleton key was made for it and it just doesn't get any better than this.
The basket has the letters and number DB Ltd 9 stamped on it. This probably referred to the company and location number.
The lady I purchased it off said she purchased it, because they were her initials which made it feel so customized to her.
Use this as a coffee table for stylish storage and a unique look. Its history and character are factors alone that had me sold.
Local Pick Up only due to size and weight.
